It’s trash stash time again!

My empties were heavier on the skincare front this month.

Skincare

Skinsceuticals Antioxidant Lip repair $38 for 10ml
I wanted so much to love this but it was just a ‘meh’ product. I got this because of good reviews online, and I was also at some point feeling paranoid that I was getting lip wrinkles. This is a white lip cream – so think of applying a face lotion onto your lips, that’s what it feels like. It wasn’t very hydrating and didn’t last long on my lips. Also, the pump was bothersome – it dispensed way too much product a la MAC pro Longwear Concealer. It’s expensive too.

Clarins sun wrinkle control Eye Contour care SPF 30 (discontinued)
I used to be really obsessed with finding an eye cream with SPF, but then I realized that none of them were hydrating enough on their own. So I’d have to layer a non-SPF eye cream underneath it as well. Nowadays, I just wear regular non-SPF eye cream and then apply my typical facial sunscreen on top. works just as well.

La Roche-Posay Effaclar K – $14 for 400ml
I discussed this in my last favourites and I’m so sad to have finished this because La Roche-Posay has discontinued this product in North America, for some reason. It was a terrific lightweight moisturizer for my t-zone. I’m thinking of trying Paula’s choice BHA lotion in place of this.
Stash worthiness: 9/10     Repurchase: maybe (online)

Mary Kay TimeWise® Age-Fighting moisturizer Normal/Dry Skin – $35 for 88ml
This made onto my last favourites list as well and was a surprise hit. It is glycerin based and felt very lightweight – it’s imply for dry skin but I think those with really dry skin wouldn’t find this hydrating enough. It was terrific for my normal / combo skin. The tube is very sanitary and you get a lot of product for a fair price.
Stash worthiness: 9/10     Repurchase: Yes

Shiseido Benefiance instant treatment Eye Mask – $72 for 12 masks
I scored these from Winners and I have one much more box left. When they’re gone, I will be sad. I’m debating if I would pay full price for them. I am using the Avene Ystheal Anti-wrinkle emulsion which I really like.
Stash worthiness: 9/10     Repurchase: Maybe

Haircare

Garnier whole blends green Tea green Apple Refreshing Shampoo – $8 for 370ml
This is a wonderful daily shampoo to clarify my hair and smells like fresh green apples. This was also a product from the favourites post.
Stash worthiness: 9/10     Repurchase: Yes

Nexxus Therappe glamorous Moisturizing Conditioner – $14 for 400ml
I had the matching shampoo and my review is the same: I received this for totally free from a pal and it was ok. Smelled fine and didn’t weigh down my hair but I wouldn’t seek it out.
Stash worthiness: 6/10     Repurchase: No

Cake charm Satin Sugar sweet Fuss-Free Volumizing dry Shampoo
Did not care for this at all. It did not volumize my hair, nor did it make my hair look refreshed or de-greased. and to top it off, the smell was a nauseating fake sweet cake frosting. I much choose Cake’s powder dry shampoo.
Stash worthiness: 3/10     Repurchase: No

Body care

Bath & Body works Waikiki beach Coconut Hand Soap with Coconut Milk
This was a good addition to the Waikiki beach Coconut collection this year. I typically opt for the foaming hand soaps from BBW but this one was a good change. I discovered that it’s less drying than the foaming soaps. I’d certainly consider purchasing much more of these hand soaps if BBW releases them again. For now I’ve got a couple left in my stash.
Stash worthiness: 9/10     Repurchase: Yes

Bath & Body works Waikiki Beach Coconut Aloe Gel lotion – $15.00 for 166ml
I purchased this last year and it’s everything I wanted the Body shop Body Sorbets to be – it’s hydrating, lightweight and smells incredible (unlike TBS’ version which isn’t hydrating at all). I still have a few tubes left of this that I’m rationing. BBW didn’t bring this product back this year, sadly!
Stash worthiness: 10/10     Repurchase: No

I made this amazing gif back in Feb of 2015 showing the ghost of my soap, so why not reuse it?
Kiss my face naked Pure Olive Oil Bar Soap – $8 for 3-4oz bars
This is a staple in my stash – it’s a very gentle and soothing formula that leaves my skin soft and supple.
Stash worthiness: 9/10     Repurchase: Yes

Makeup

Shiseido UV Protective Compact foundation SPF 36 in SP30 – C$35 for 12g
This is a wonderful powder to apply on top of foundation (sheerly) or as a powder foundation on its own. I took this with me to Japan and it was very useful to have SPF in powder form for touch-ups. This made a favourites list from last year. The compact is refillable so I will be keeping that and tossing the refill pan. When I repurchase, I may try one shade down as I find this one a touch orange looking.
Stash worthiness: 9/10     Repurchase: Yes

CoverGirl Clump Crusher Lash Blast Mascara – C$10.99
This is mytrusty standby for when I travel. It doesn’t offer the most dramatic lashes but it really doesn’t clump on me so there’s no need to bring a lash comb with me. and it is really water resistant so no smudges onto the lower lash line. I always make a point to keep at least one CoverGirl Lash Blast Mascara in my rotation – you can check out my summary of CoverGirl Lash Blast mascaras here.
Stash worthiness: 9/10     Repurchase: Yes

Mary Kay Lash primer – C$21
I used this once and never again. I’ve never seen anything uncurl my lashes like this! review here. I’m keeping the brush to see if I can reuse it!
Stash worthiness: 1/10     Repurchase: No

Revlon All-in-One Mascara – C$10.99
This made my lashes stick together, and it irritated my eyes. I evaluated this, along with the volume + length Magnified version here. get the other one instead.
Stash worthiness: 6/10     Repurchase: No

Tools

Shishida Seishindo metallic Mascara Comb
My poor lash comb has finally cracked after at least 5 years of use. It’s been a terrific tool and I’m happy I got back-ups of this (thanks Q, thanks C! ), even though there are so numerous terrific options available now, including Sephora’s (which I think is a copy of this one).  I raved about this lash comb here. I think I’m going to open up one of the lash combs I got in Japan.
Stash worthiness: 10/10     Repurchase: Yes

Daiso Detergent cleaning for Markup Puff and Sponge – ¥100 in Japan but C$6.50 from Ebay, for 80ml
This stuff is magical. It keeps my charm Blender type sponges looking brand spanking new. A small bottle like this easily lasts me 6 months and I use it 2-3 times per week. I only need a few drops to clean a sponge. I kind of wish I’d hauled much more bottles of this when I was in Japan but space in my suitcase was premium real estate!
Stash worthiness: 10/10     Repurchase: Yes

Samples / travel Size

Mary Kay Oil-Free Eye makeup remover – both pink bottles are the same product, MK just chose to change up the packaging of their gwp from the pink cap to the black cap version. Also, I didn’t finish both of these gwp sizes in one month. They were both about 2/3 finished because I took them on getaway or weekend trips with me. I do like this formula – it’s very effective but it does leave a silicone-y film on my skin. I always have to clean the residue with micellar water.

Kiehl’s very Multi-Corrective eye-opening Serum – this is a very watery serum that I’ve been wearing underneath the Antipodes Kiwi Seed Oil eye cream. I wouldn’t purchase the full size.

Clinique Repairwear sculpting night cream – didn’t care for this. It’s not rich enough to be called a night cream, in my opinion. and it didn’t sculpt nothing. The container of this gwp has a magician’s false bottom going on – the tub looks enormous but only includes 15ml – there’s a lot of empty air and plastic in this container!

Have you tried any of these products? how did you finish with empties this month?
