One of my favored ways to assemble a quickly, yet beautiful, art quilt is to start with a handcrafted batik panel and also add among even more boundary strips log cabin design. This set simply requires the binding.

To complement this stunning red flower panel by Hari Agung, I made use of two textiles from our own Batik Tambal Exclusive Batik fabric line: leading as well as left is Fruit Sours, Environment-friendly Apple, and also bottom/right is Fronds, Mocha.

I device quilted the boundaries with easy tilted straight lines, as well as the center panel with a free-form meander.

Above, I accented the blossom centers with French knots. I enjoy using a variegated thread like our gorgeous Eleganza from the Sue Spargo Collection by WonderFil Specialized Threads for French knots: you wind up with different shades without changing threads!

I used a medium size Hari Agung panel for this next patchwork in progress.

This set is framed with simple log cabin-style nested borders, including Batik Tambal Exclusive Batik in Links, Red and also the Crosshatch Gold from the Marks by Valori Wells collection, a stunning contemporary cotton. The next step is to add quilting using the BERNINA Q20 sit down maker and after that bind it.

This simple construction method– batik panel framed by log cabin strips– is simple enough for starting quilters, yet impressive: get going by yourself variation!
