The Duchess of Cambridge wore Erdem for her engagement at the Victoria & Albert Museum tonight.
This is the first time she has visited the museum in her role as patron; Kate is the first royal patron the V&A has ever had. Below, a quick video of the Duchess arriving.
She was on hand to officially open the new Photography Centre at the V&A. More about the collection from the Museum’s website:
The V&A began acquiring photographs in 1852, and its collection is now one of the largest and most crucial in the world.
Its first director, Henry Cole, was an amateur photographer himself and a great supporter of the art of photography. He began a photography collection in 1856, the year that the South Kensington Museum, now the V&A, was established. considering that then, the collection has grown to be international in scope and comprises over 300,000 images dating from 1839 to the present.

Kate toured the exhibit, met with curators and unveiled a plaque to mark the official opening of the center, which will a lot more than double the space dedicated to photography in the museum. Prints, negatives, cam equipment, photographic publications and original documents will be displayed together to tell the story of international photography.
We know how fond Kate is of photography; she would probably love browsing the collection on her own time.

The duchess, who studied art history at university, showed her expertise in the field during her visit, according to Martin Barnes, the museum’s senior curator of the exhibition. “She is a really knowledgeable student in art history, so she understood about the technology behind the photos,” he said.
“I really got a sense of her knowledge and interest in how it is relevant today but how its history informs its present.”

And now we have our look at what Kate wore this evening. She was in the Erdem Iman Dress, a runway piece from the spring 2018 collection.
The dress features an asymmetric and layered off-the-shoulder design, crafted of a bouclé tweed in the Prince of Wales check pattern. It has frayed detailing at the skirt, the elbow-length sleeves, and the front placket. You can see that Kate’s dress is longer, a lot more like the runway style than the dress from the commercial collection shown on the right.
The runway style featured a cutout at the waist not used in the off-the-rack version of the dress. Below you can see the darting at the waist (center), as well as the belt the Duchess added to her look.

It looks like Kate carried one of the Jimmy Choo J-Box made to order clutches.
She also wore a new pair of Jimmy Choo pumps.
They look like the Anouk or the Romy pump in Bordeaux velvet. below center, we show the Romy Pointy Toe Velvet Pumps and on the right, the Anouk Pointy Toe Velvet pump.
The Duchess also wore a new pair of Erdem earrings, the Floral Hoop drop style ($1220). From the 2018 fall collection, the earrings feature a crystal embellished hoop with a floral shape brass smoked topaz with crystal and pearl ‘petals’.

Kensington Palace announced today that Princess Beatrice will be Princess Eugenie’s Maid of Honour. Below, the sisters as bridesmaids in their nanny’s wedding.
