That pop of pink in the middle is a new shade of BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed
BECCA’s been surfing this — what feels like a long, continuous wave of limited edition highlighter palettes — for what, months? Years? It seems like there’s a new one every couple months.

Surprise! the current one is called Light Waves ($34, available now), and it has three shades of their famous Shimmering Skin Perfector pressed Powder. two are shades you might already be familiar with — good ol’ golden Moonstone, which has been around for years, and shimmering light purple Prismatic Amethyst, which is newer.

Side note: I shied away from purple highlighter for years thinking that it was only for lighter lasses, and that, as a tan-skinned babe, I couldn’t wear it… Boy, was I wrong! It’s actually really flattering on darker skin tones, too.

From the top: Moonstone, Pink Sapphire and Prismatic Amethyst
The new, new shade is smack dab in the middle of the palette. It’s called Pink Sapphire, and it’s a really pretty duo chrome golden pink that flashes to peach.

I’m wearing it on my cheeks here, although, ya know, I had to build it up, because it isn’t as pigmented as Moonstone and Prismatic Amethyst.

Not a big deal, though, because it’s not like I had to put on tons of it. I did two layers for these glowing, opalescent cheeks.

Wearing Pink Sapphire on my cheeks

These powders are typically BECCA in that they’re smooth, silky, soft and long-wearing. even after 12 hours, I notice very little fading.

They also spare the driest patches of my cheeks additionally despair (you probably know this already, but I have combo dry/oily skin). Basically, you can wear them without the shimmer settling on any flaky bits or drawing attention to your “experience lines,” as I like to call them.

There’s something kinda ’80s about these colors, yeah?
Overall, this is a flexible, functional highlighting palette that must see a lot of use. It also suits a lot of skin tones and skin types, but really, how lots of highlighting palettes does one actually need in their life? — because I normally end up using the same highlighter nearly every day (creamy MAC Hush).

If you decide to get this one (it’s LE and available now), I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. It’s pretty, and pretty inexpensive at $34, and you can also use the powders as eyeshadows, or as shimmery toppers for lipgloss, lipstick and even mascara.

P.S. Wouldn’t it be cool to see BECCA build up other areas of their collection? Yeah, their highlighters are great, but how about a new eyeshadow palette? Or a new blush palette? That would be amazing.
